Single-Leg Raise on Yoga Mat

How to Left-Leg Raise

Exercise Families: Hip Flexion

Equipment: Yoga Mat

Steps:

  1. Lie on your back with hands underneath your hips. Bend your right knee, and extend your left leg in front of you. Lift your left heel 2-3 inches off the ground.

  2. Keep your core strong and tighten your hips to lift your left leg in the air approximately 60-degrees.

  3. Hold the up-position briefly. Slowly return to the starting position, lowering your leg until your heel is 2-3 inches from the ground.

  4. You should feel this working the hip flexor and core muscles.

How to Right-Leg Raise

You Should Feel This: Hip Flexion

  2. Keep your core strong and tighten your hips to lift your right leg in the air approximately 60-degrees.

  3. Hold the up-position briefly. Slowly return to the starting position, lowering your leg until your heel is 2-3 inches from the ground.

  4. You should feel this working the hip flexor and core muscles.
